U.S. News and World Report released its 2011 Best Colleges rankings Monday, and Ohio University continues to be a top public university.
The university placed 60th among ranked public national universities and 124th on the full national university list, making it a Tier 1 university according to the rankings.
"We are extremely pleased to once again be recognized among the nation's best," said President Roderick J. McDavis. "This recognition speaks to our vision to be the nation's best transformative learning community."
The university's rankings were down slightly from 2010 when it placed 57th among ranked public national universities and 115th on the full national university list. Slight decreases in selectivity (4 percent), the graduation rate (1 percent), and graduation rate performance (difference between actual and predicted graduation rate) of 5 percent help account for the decline.
